More about DR Mixologist and Darryl Robinson
A new bar star on the rise, Darryl “DR Mixologist” Robinson got his first taste of mixology tending bar at his childhood home, where his family often entertained.
This was followed by the bartender of choice role for many local events and a stint at the famed Kings Arms Tavern in Williamsburg, VA - where Darryl quickly mastered the skills of high-volume bartending. This is also where Darryl became truly inspired by innovative cocktail making and recognized his natural talent for cocktail design. After college graduation, Darryl migrated to New York City in pursuit of an acting career – which resulted in being the voice for several major commercial campaigns including Anheiser Busch, Sesame Street and Mrs. Fields Cookies; a number of national commercial spots for The United States Navy and General Motors; as well as numerous appearances on Loving, Guiding Light, As The World Turns and Another World. But what remained constant during this pursuit was his passion for the world of gourmet cocktail-making. Stints at top New York City bars and restaurants followed, and Darryl spent the next 10 years honing the craft of mixology. In 2005, Darryl joined one of New York City’s hottest nightspots, Hudson Bar (located at Ian Schrager's Hudson Hotel), and has spent the last several years fine-tuning his passion, while earning recognition in this growing industry. His unique and flavorful combinations, coupled with the art of mixology are evident in each and every one of his cocktail creations. When he’s not at Hudson Bar, Darryl can be found globetrotting to private affairs and special events, where he captivates his admirers with his colorful style and the art of the cocktail. He also serves as a Consultant to many bar and restaurant owners looking to create an exemplary cocktail experience at their venue. Darryl is an active member of the United States Bartenders’ Guild, the International Bartenders Association and The Museum of the American Cocktail.
Always eager to share his extensive knowledge of the craft, Darryl has been featured in Fine Living, Essence, New York Daily News, Real Simple, Blackbook, Black Enterprise magazine and more!
