My Favorite Celebrity Moms - @GalTime

My Favorite Celebrity Moms

Published: July 19, 2013

I admit that I have a small and not-so-secret obsession with celebrity moms. In between writing articles and updating my Facebook status, I often have to sneak over to some of my favorite gossip sites and catch up on the latest news of the day. Who's been seen around town sporting their new baby bump? Which mom is taking her kids to the park today? And who is flaunting her new post-baby body?

And through my cough*official*cough "research," I am now happy to bring you my favorite list of celebrity moms, built up after hours of intensive and mindless celeb browsing.

1. Reese Witherspoon

Ok, yes, so she's landed herself into a little trouble with the law lately. But really, who hasn't said something they regret after drinking a bit too much? And who hasn't tried to use pregnancy as an excuse to get out something, even a speeding ticket?

I unapologetically love Reese Witherspoon because I really think she's down-to-earth (aside from her one drinking discretion) and works really hard at giving her kids a normal, stable upbringing. I've been a fan of Reese's ever since I found out that she, like me, had a surprise pregnancy before her wedding and got married at a young age. Plus, she's found new love, makes the working mom thing look good, and has a new baby at home. What's not to love?

2. Shakira

Admittedly, I generally make it a habit of avoiding women who have bodies like Shakira's, because hello, I have no chance in hell of looking like that. Surely, no one who can move her hips like that can have any type of normalcy in her life.

But then I read Shakira's interview in Us Weekly, in which she confessed,

"I mean he's a great, great baby. He's an easy one, I think. But nobody told me it would be this hard. It takes a lot of energy from you."

I have to admit, that really changed my perspective on her (and her hips.) If even Shakira can admit that motherhood is ridiculously hard, maybe there's hope for us mere mortals after all…

3. Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba is perhaps the celeb mom that I follow the most. I even, embarrassingly, follow her on Facebook like I am a long-lost old pal and not like the rest of the one million fans who leave creepy comments on her pictures.

I just can't help it. I admire everything about Jessica and, in particular, I have enjoyed watching her create a new career with her company The Honest Company, born out of her new role as a mother. I just find it so inspiring how she has worked hard to create a career that combines the best of both worlds. Good for you, Jessica!

4. Jessica Simpson

Jessica #2 and I were pregnant at the same time last year and I found immense comfort in following her pregnancy, even if it was for the sole reason that there was someone as hugely pregnant as I was. I say that not out of spite, but out of a genuine admiration I have for Jessica Simpson being a real celebrity mother not afraid to put on some weight during her pregnancy. It happens to the best of us! And I admire Jessica going on to trump Hollywood conventions to "get her body" back in two weeks and instead, going for baby #2. Family comes first.

5. Kourtney Kardashian

Yes, Kim's the Kardashian sister all over the news right now, but I've been following Kourtney since way back when "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" first aired. I admired how gracefully Kourtney handled her unexpected pregnancy and how she incorporated her son into her life when in all reality, she didn't have a role model for being a successful young working mother. Her choice in a partner may be a different story, but I think Kourtney is doing a great job as a mom.

6. The Princess

And of course, no list of celebrity moms would be complete without a tip of the royal hat to the ever-beautiful Kate Middleton. I am completely obsessed with all things Kate and so envy her graceful entrance into motherhood, even in the mist of the most severe morning sickness ever. Can't wait to see that royal bundle of joy and how Kate handles it all.
