Do you feel feel like you melt like the Wicked Witch of the West every time you step out into the scorching sun this summer? To make things worse, does it seem like everyone around is either flawlessly beautiful or doesn’t need to wear even a smidge of makeup? Maybe all these summer goddesses have removed their sweat glands or there is a new beauty invention everyone is keeping secret.
I don't want to look shiny, so I turned to GalTime's makeup pro Andrea Ducharme to learn tricks and tips on how to look and feel fresh this summer with an unmade-up natural, beachy glow.
Andrea suggests keeping everything light and oil free for days at the office or in the field. She recommends a mineral based talc-free powder, some waterproof eyeliner, cheek color and a touch of lip color.
"Stay away from fussy products like eye shadows and lip glosses," Andrea emphasizes.
Andrea also shared a less-is- more mentality when it comes to the beach. Except for a great sunscreen, maybe a protective lip color, and a wand of waterproof mascara or bright eyeliner, Andrea says the beach means skipping most makeup all together.
When packing for a vacation, you should go light, and that includes your cosmetics.
"For SPF if it is best to apply liquid formulas first," Andrea explains. "If it is a mineral powder formula that can go on last."
Andrea also shares her favorite melt-proof products for this summer:
• Julie Hewett Cheekie Cheek and Lip Colors, it is a unique gel based cream that glides on either over or under powders and other liquids/creams and stays put. We're showing the Cheekie Palette.
• Makeup For Ever Aqua Summer Collection: waterproof eye shadows, mascaras and eye and lip liners in juicy fun colors. There is a new pearlescent teal will make your eyes mimic the ocean.
• Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray - Just spray over entire face for smudge proof makeup all day
• bareMinerals Matte foundation and mineral veil. This one is SPF 15.
"Taking 5 minutes to apply some sheer fun colors can make you look and feel polished and put together even on those sweltering days. One of my favorite summer treats is to spray my face and the back of my neck with Caudalie's Beauty Elixer, it feels so refreshing and is loaded with mint and rosemary," Andrea shares. "It totally wakes me up, and is extra fabulous chilled in the fridge!"
Right now, the idea of an elixir from the fridge makes me envision an everlasting summer air conditioner cooling my face.
